Microdosing & Women’s Hormones: A Revolutionary Approach to Healing 

There was a time in my twenties when I thought I would never escape the pain. Every day felt like a cruel version of Groundhog Day—debilitating cramps that dropped me to  my knees, bleeding so heavy it left me relentlessly fatigued, digestion that refused to  cooperate, unbearable back pain that radiated through my entire body, and the crushing  anxiety of feeling like there was no relief in sight. Doctors called it endometriosis, a condition  the medical system conveniently labels “incurable”—but manageable, if I agreed to a lifelong  prescription of birth control, painkillers, and surgeries. 

Yes, surgeries—plural—because even after invasive excision, the end could (and likely would) grow back. Of course it would. That’s what happens when you don’t address why it developed  in the first place 

At the time, I didn’t realize this diagnosis would become my greatest initiation. Endometriosis  shook me so hard until it cracked me wide open and taught me the most profound truth of my  life: My body was never broken—it was speaking to me. 

I always tell my clients: symptoms start as whispers. If we don’t listen, they knock louder. And  if we continue to ignore them, they come screaming. 

Western medicine is built on a system that treats symptoms like malfunctions—problems to be  muted, managed, cut out. But symptoms aren’t actually the problem. They are the messengers  pointing us to deeper imbalances and ultimately calling us home to ourselves. And in the case  of endometriosis, the message was crystal clear. It wasn’t just about hormones. It was about a chronically dysregulated nervous system, decades of unprocessed emotions stewing in my  tissues, and all the words I’d swallowed down to keep the peace.

Day after day in my practice, highly health-conscious women come to me exhausted,  frustrated, and overwhelmed despite doing everything “right.” They have cleaned up their diets, exercise consistently, followed detox protocols, taken all the right supplements, and still  find themselves trapped in paralysing cycles of PMDD, PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis, fertility struggles and crippling menopausal symptoms.

There’s one critical system at the root of it all: the HPA axis (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal  axis)—the command center that governs the connection between stress responses,  metabolism, and hormonal balance. When the HPA axis is chronically activated by stress,  unresolved trauma, and subconscious fear patterns, it triggers an adaptive cascade of  biochemical shifts that present as downstream hormone dysregulation. 

I believe my success as a practitioner comes from my deep understanding that true healing is  not just physical—it’s profoundly emotional and energetic. When Hustle Becomes Hormonal Chaos: The Cost of Living in Overdrive  

Women have been conditioned to operate like men in a world that glorifies logic, hustle productivity, and control. We override the cyclical essence of our feminine nature, convinced  that success, safety, and even our worthiness are tied to how much we can accomplish. But  what happens when female physiology, designed to move in cycles and seasons, is pushed  and forced to operate like a machine?  

Burnout. Hormonal collapse. A hyper-vigilant nervous system locked in survival mode. 

At the core of this crisis is a fundamental misalignment with our own biology. The feminine thrives in flow, intuition, receptivity, and nourishment. Yet, modern life demands discipline rigidity, and output at all costs. 

And here’s the paradox: The very women so desperate to heal often bring this same  overbearing energy of perfectionism and control into their healing journey—restricting,  obsessing, and pushing harder. I tell my students all the time: 

“You Type A’d your way into this, and you can’t Type A your way out.” 

This is where we shift into the yin and yang of estrogen and progesterone—the delicate dance  of building and balancing, activation and restoration, expansion and integration. 

Estrogen is an anabolic hormone, or more simply stated, a building hormone. It promotes  growth and repair, supports muscle mass, cognitive function, energy, bone density, and the  uterine lining—encompassing the very yang qualities of masculine energy. Estrogen within  certain ranges is vital, however excess estrogen equals excess growth, which can result in  tumors, cysts, fibroids, endometriosis, cancers and weight gain. 

A key takeaway here is that I hope all women remember: estrogen is not just a sex hormone— it’s also a stress hormone. As stress rises, so does estrogen. 

Progesterone, on the other hand, is the ultimate softener—the yin to estrogen’s yang. It’s not  just a pregnancy hormone, but a hormone of resilience, adaptation, and deep restoration.  Progesterone is pro-metabolic, neuroprotective, anti-anxiety, sleep-promoting, immunomodulating, gut healing, youth enhancing, and the ultimate buffer against th destructive effects of stress hormones. It is the stabilizer, the soother, the deep exhale that signals safety to the body. 

But here’s the catch: progesterone is only produced when the body feels safe enough to  ovulate! And that’s exactly what’s missing in the modern woman—a felt sense of internal  safety. The hyper-independent, over-functioning, Type A woman is unknowingly running on  stress hormones, and her body is down-regulating progesterone in favor of survival. 

Women collectively are struggling to slow down, and are stuck in a hyper-masculine energetic  loop, which continues to drive estrogen dominance and hormonal chaos. It’s impossible to heal  with the same forceful energy that made you sick in the first place, and this is how microdosing psilocybin truly takes center stage and shines.
