What’s your company vision?
Ketamine StartUp’s vision is to be the premier online course in teaching physicians how to create their own ketamine infusion clinics.
Why was your company started?
As the CEO of Reset Ketamine clinic in Palm Springs, CA I was continually asked by my colleagues how they could start their own IV ketamine practices. Accordingly, I co-created an online course ketaminestartup.com to meet this need.
Ketamine StartUp takes 5 years of research and clinical practice and distills it down into the most important information. The optimized logical sequence allows doctors to go from feeling lost and overwhelmed to being empowered and knowledgeable in starting their own ketamine clinic.
Most importantly, this will increase patient accessibility in receiving ketamine therapy in a safe, therapeutic setting.
What’s been the biggest challenge so far?
The biggest challenge is getting doctors to actually take the leap into starting their own ketamine infusion practices. According to the American Medical Association, more physicians are employees of healthcare organizations rather than the owners of medical practices. Accordingly, a lot of doctors are scared of taking a risk and remain locked to their golden handcuffs.
What excites you most?
Psychedelics in a therapeutic setting can potentially be a game-changer for those who are suffering from depression and other mood disorders.
Ketamine is the only legal psychedelic medicine available now in the USA. Being on the cutting edge of transformational medicine and seeing the remarkable changes in patients is incredibly rewarding.
Furthermore, I believe that by teaching doctors to free themselves from being an employee to becoming a ketamine clinic CEO will also help address the high rates of burnout plaguing physicians.
What is your biggest lesson learned when raising capital?
Fortunately, we were able to bootstrap the initial costs and didn’t need to raise any outside capital. We did this intentionally knowing that when there are other investors, it could limit the autonomy of the founders.

What tips would you give founders entering fundraising?
1. Be intentional about choosing investors who are aligned with your values and goals.
2. If possible, create the product or service (at least a viable proof-of-concept) before seeking outside investors.
3. Invest your own money first to prove you have “skin in the game.”
