“I think generally people should be open to psychedelics”
“A lot of people making laws are from a different era. As a new generation gets into political power, I think we will see greater receptivity to the benefits of psychedelics.”
Under normal circumstances, this would be considered a somewhat measured support for psychedelics, nothing worth getting too excited about. Coming from Elon Musk, the world’s most famous innovator and Twitter kingmaker? It becomes headline-worthy.
The Tesla CEO was taking part in a live interview at CodeCon 2021 answering audience questions on a variety of topics. When Field Trip Health Co-Founder Ronan Levy got his hands on the mic, he did his psychedelic duty and directed Elon towards a subject that really matters.
“What role do you think psychedelics may have in addressing some of the more destructive tendencies of humanity?”
Musk’s above reply was a solid thumbs up for the future growth and acceptance of psychedelics in our society. The reason it’s worth reporting on is because even a mention from Elon Musk can have some serious effects.
Recently Musk has influenced the crypto markets by changing his Twitter bio to #bitcoin, causing a crypto bull rush. Then Tesla reversed its policy on accepting bitcoin, causing the price to crash; only to say that the company would likely accept it again someday which caused the price to jump once again.
Then there was the Dogecoin incident when the multi-billionaire sent out a tweet about the meme crypto coin that was interpreted as a show of support, causing the joke coin to jump more than 800% after the tweet.
So, as removed from the world of fundamentals as it is, public support from Elon Musk can have serious effects on a market or industry.
Musk has shown support for psychedelics before, tweeting several times about DMT. Along with other celebrities like Joe Rogan and Mike Tyson vocally touting the benefits of psychedelics, news like this will do its part in evolving our culture past old stigmas.
A good thing for both psychedelic medicine and society as a whole.
Speaking of Mike Tyson, the DMT supporter and spokesperson for psychedelic startup Wesana Health will be a headline speaker at Mircrodose’s Wonderland Miami event. See here for details.
