I’d had some experience with psychedelics, but it was the typical recreational stuff you do when you’re younger. Shrooms at the cottage, type of thing. Then, a few years ago, my mental health took a turn for the worse. I was OK, but the ambient anxiety that seemed to always be there had slowly reached a new level. And I was getting concerned.
Friends and family recommended going on medication. But I didn’t want to just reach for a pill. Shouldn’t I try something else first? Something more natural, less influenced by outdated commercial models of mental health treatment?
So I started microdosing psilocybin. Tentatively at first, learning the ropes, checking-in to see its effects. And I noticed a difference. It was subtle, and you had to look for it. But I felt better. Was better able to access the present moment, get out of my head, reverse some of those ugly habits of thought.
I still have to work at it. But for the last 3 years, psychedelics have been a part of my mental health routine, with very positive results. I’m grateful to be in a position to share this knowledge and help move this mental health renaissance forward.
